With sell swords and adventurers now residing in Fairhaven, the Kelnian guard has kept the Kur out of the city proper. Early in the gather, the Marshal met with a good many of the more successful adventurers and groups to discuss the state of the town. The exact purpose of that meeting is unknown, but it is generally speculated that the Marshal wanted to discuss an offensive with the town mercenaries. Reports of Kur fighting with something resembling leadership have been filtering into Fairhaven for months now. Originally any leadership was thought to be due to the spell casting stag-headed Kur. However, recent rumors floating around Fairhaven is that a man is directing them. Who this man is, and what his intents are can only be speculated, but the Marshal has made it clear that any being allied with the Kur is to be brought in if possible, and killed if capture is not an option. Along with the frightening news of a man leading the Kur, news has slowly leaked into the town that the vast majority of Kelnian Guard garrison has repositioned itself to the north west of Fairhaven. In the days following the gather, it is unclear why, but as the next gather draws closer, rumor runs rampant of a massive Kur army the size of which has not been seen since the initial invasion. The guardsman in Fairhaven have assured the townspeople that all is in order, but that hasn't stopped panicking townspeople from hoarding supplies and a rise in crime with the lessened guard presence in Fairhaven. Rumors are also spreading about mutinous soldiers who have abandoned their posts and deserted the war entirely. To make matters worse, rumors run rampant in economic circles that the Marshal hasn't yet received the promised coin designated for sellswords and suppliers. While supplies have been handed out to help with the battles, few mercenaries are likely to continue fighting and supplies may well stop coming if coin is not received from Augunvar soon. Many speculate that that the nobles of Fairhaven would be willing to help supply funds, had not the Marshal confiscated many of their horses supplies, and used their manor houses to barrack his soldiers. Though things could be better, allies from all over Antara are showing up more and more to help with the battles, or help rebuild Kelnia. The emissary from Kletsk is rumored to have offered to help the beleaguered people of Kelnia, but few who meet with the emissary seem to desire his direct help for some reason. Tharndanian commanders have also been seen in the area, most likely directing tharndanian efforts in the area. Likewise noble Caladonian Knights have begun fighting the Kur and helping the people of Kelnia. Rumor among the soldiers is that the Caladonian Knights are scouting for a greater Caladonian detachment which will arive soon with soldiers and suplies. Finally, the Guilds have made their presence known, with many of their officials seen in town recruiting or offering assistance with the Kur. |
